What Is Scaling Facebook Ads?
Scaling Facebook ads is the process of strategically growing and expanding ad campaigns to reach a larger audience while maintaining or improving ad performance.
Typically, people scale Facebook ads when they already have winning advertising campaigns that are effective and generating revenue.
Examples of winning B2B Facebook ads from Mailchimp and Unlayer.
However, scaling isn’t just raising ad budgets. How to scale Facebook ads to go from a $500 to a $5,000 profit per day is not a simple question to answer. When you increase your budgets too quickly, Facebook algorithms may eat them up in one night. CPM is skyrocketing, and your Facebook ad is distributed to viewers that are not going to convert to sales.
That’s why you need thoughtful Facebook ad scaling strategies.
3 Exclusive Strategies On How To Scale Facebook Ads In 2024
In my opinion, there are 3 main ways on how to scale Facebook ads, including: scaling content, scaling ad and scaling budget.
Scaling content
Firstly, winning content is the key to a successful ad campaign. Once you found out a winning content for your brand, consider scaling your content production to reach a wider audience and grow your margin.
Content scaling is producing more high-quality content based on the idea and concept of your already winning ad content.
Let’s analyze these 2 advertising videos as examples of ad content scaling. After crafting a successful video ad for a self-defense and escape tool called a long metal rod, the business replicated the concept to scale its Facebook ad campaign.
As you can see, this video immediately grabs attention with an urgent scenario of a child locked in a hot car. Then, a bypasser uses the product to break car windows effortlessly. To showcase the rod’s versatility and effectiveness, video depicts various individuals, both male and female, using it to shatter objects. Finally, it offers a discount to encourage purchases.
The second video employs the similar structure but uses different footages and images, showing some people trapped in a submerged vehicle and save themselves with the aid of this tool.
Scaling ad
The second way is scaling more campaigns, ad sets or ads with the same winning content scale. In other words, you duplicate the successful ads or campaigns.
Rather than recreating these ads manually, you can simply duplicate ads in Meta Ads Manager. This allows you to reuse the settings of your winning ads or the entire campaign.
For example, you’re running 6 ads across 2 campaigns, and 3 of those ads are performing well. You can select the ads that you wish to scale and duplicate them to an existing or new campaign.
Here are how to scale Facebook ad by duplicating in Ads Manager:
- Go to Ads Manager at https://adsmanager.facebook.com.
- Go to Campaigns, Ad sets or Ads
- Select the item you want to duplicate using the checkbox..
- Click Duplicate.
- Enter the number of copies you need in the pop-up window and confirm.
- Make any needed changes to the duplicated item.
- Click Publish to finish.
Some people say that duplicating a successful ad can lead to overlapping audiences, which means your reach actually doesn’t grow. However, from my perspective, there’s no need to worry about audience overlap as each ad is targeted to a specific segment of the audience, not the entire base.
Scaling budget
Thirdly, you can scale the budget of an existing ad or ad campaign if you see it is winning. I advise you not to boost your budget too fast. Instead, incrementally increase the budget every 2-3 hours. Monitor metrics such as CPC, CTR, and CPM. If these metrics are favorable, you may increase the budget by 20%-50% at a time. Adjust the exact increment based on ad performance. Meanwhile, you should set A/B tests with various budget levels to determine the optimal budget that delivers the desired ROAS (return on ad spend), without exceeding the given limit.
How To Measure Successful Facebook Ad Scaling?
To identify the effectiveness of your ad scaling efforts, monitor these essential metrics:
Ad performance metrics
- Conversions: This fundamental metric reflects the ultimate goal of your campaign. A sustained or accelerating raise in sales, leads, or sign-ups signifies successful scaling.
- Cost per acquisition (CPA): Evaluating your CPA reveals the efficiency of acquiring new customers. Ideally, it should remain steady or decrease as your campaign expands. A rising CPA often signals targeting or ad fatigue issues.
- Return on ad spend (ROAS): This metric measures your campaign’s profitability. A consistently high or improving ROAS indicates a strong return on investment.
- Click-through rate (CTR): Assessing your CTR helps understand ad resonance. A stable or increasing CTR suggests your ad creative remains compelling to a broader audience.
Pro tips: Use a Facebook Agency Account for better CTR optimization than a personal ad account.
Ad campaign stability
- Ad frequency: Tracking ad frequency prevents overexposure and ad fatigue. Strive for a balance that maintains freshness without overwhelming users.
- Learning phase: Be mindful of Facebook’s optimization process. Avoid disruptive changes that hinder algorithm learning. Allow sufficient time for the platform to optimize ad delivery.
