An Easy Guide On Setting Up Your TikTok Ads Payment Method

TikTok ads payment method 1

As more and more businesses run ads on TikTok, we have received tons of questions about TikTok ads payment method. The good news is that the platform has implemented various options for payment to accommodate advertisers worldwide.

So, this article is meant to address two of the biggest concerns related to this: types of TikTok ads payment methods & how to set up your own method. We hope you’ll find it helpful!

3 Types of TikTok Ads Payment Methods

Generally, there are 3 primary types of TikTok ads payment options: manual payment (prepay), autopay, and monthly invoicing.

3 Types of TikTok Ads Payment Methods
You can choose to prepay, autopay, or pay monthly.

Manual payment (Prepay)

Manual payment, also known as prepay, is a type of payment method for TikTok Ads where advertisers make a 100% advance deposit into a designated bank account before running their ads.

This payment can be made via bank transfer, credit card, or other accepted methods. Advertisers must maintain a sufficient balance to fund their specific ad campaign throughout the campaign period. TikTok will not deliver ads in excess of the available balance and reserves the right to cease ongoing campaigns or reject new ones if the balance is insufficient.

Any remaining balance after each campaign is carried forward and available for deduction for the next campaign.

Many advertisers prefer manual payment because it provides a sense of control over finances, allowing for a review of each payment before authorization and a clear understanding of financial commitments.

Autopay

Autopay is a type of payment method for TikTok Ads where the payment methods stored in your Commercial Account are automatically charged when your Ad Buying Transactions reach the designated billing date or billing threshold amount, whichever comes first.

Accepted payment methods include credit cards, debit cards, or other methods approved by TikTok. You will be notified of the billing date and threshold amount on the applicable Transaction page, which may result in multiple charges to your payment methods.

If a payment attempt fails more than twice, TikTok reserves the right to cease ongoing ad campaigns or reject new ones until payment is received.

Autopay offers convenience and peace of mind by allowing you to set up recurring payments, so you never miss a payment deadline. This is especially helpful for individuals with busy schedules or those prone to forgetting payment due dates. It’s a worry-free option for timely bill payments without constant manual intervention.

Monthly invoicing

Monthly invoicing is a billing option available to eligible businesses using TikTok Ads. If your business qualifies, you’ll receive an invoice for your Ad Buying Transactions on a monthly basis or after the order ends, with payment due within 30 days from the invoice date unless otherwise agreed.

TikTok may extend a line of credit or post funds in your Commercial Account, subject to a billing threshold determined by TikTok.

Payments can be made via bank transfer, credit card, or other accepted methods to the bank account listed on the invoice. Regardless of the designated bill-to party in your Commercial Account, you remain liable for all advertising spend made by your business.

TikTok is not obliged to invoice within a specified timeframe, and failure to invoice does not waive the right to collect or your obligation to pay.

Yet, you must make payments in the agreed currency as defined in your contract or each applicable IO. Any dispute regarding a billed or invoiced amount must be raised within seven days of receiving the relevant billing or invoice.

In case you’re not accustomed to TikTok’s invoice policy, we advise you to rent TikTok agency account.

The partner agency will help you manage your monthly pay more effectively and avoid payment-related problems which lead to TikTok ads payment unsuccessful or TikTok ads account suspended. Not to mention that a strong agency account can do wonders for your ad campaign!
